18th ASEAN University Games (Canoeing)

Dear Stakeholders,

Hello from the Singapore Canoe Federation!

The following event will be taking place at the Marina Channel in the month of July 2016.

Please refer to the details as follow :

1.         About the Event

The ASEAN University Games (AUG) is a biennial sporting event participated by member countries of ASEAN. It is similar to the SEA Games (SEAG) and the ASEAN School Games (ASG) except that athletes must be university students.

2.         Venue of the Event

Canoeing, as one of the sports featured in the AUG will be hosted at Gardens by the Bay East, with the Marina Channel, Marina Reservoir as the race course used for the Games. The Singapore Canoe Federation is supporting the technical aspects in the running of the event.

4.         Water Traffic Management

07 – 13 July : Work boats may be sighted at the lanes for maintenance work between 0800 – 1800 hrs

12 – 13 July : Movement of the automatic start gates may be sighted near the lanes. All vessels are advised to stay clear of the boats involved with the automatic start gate movement on 12 and 13 July 2016 between 0800 – 1800 hrs.

14 July (Thu) – Training Days – 0800 – 1200, 1400 – 1800

15 July (Fri) – Race Day – 0800 – 1400

16 July (Sat) – Race Day – 0800 – 1400

17 July (Sun) – Race Day – 1400 – 1900

Powered vessels may ply at the water outside the race lanes at no wake speed.

Powered vessels may be requested to stop their passage for 2 – 5 minutes if a race is in progress.

Non powered vessels are requested to stay at waters outside the lanes andto remain stationary 10 minutes before race and when a race is in progress

Non powered vessels are advised to maintain a 50m distance from the respective start area and refrain from making any noise during the race, especially at starts of a race.

Work boats may be sighted at the lanes for tear down / maintenance work between 0800 – 1800 hrs

5.         Safety Instruction

All vessels are advised to comply with the instructions and signals given by the safety boats crew. Reservoir users are advised to exercise extra caution and to stay clear from the Racing Lanes at Marina Channel. Safety boats will display coloured flags.
