SDBA Helm Accreditation

SDBA conducts a few sessions of SDBA Helm Accreditation in a year.

The purpose of this is not to train helms but to accredit helms who have demonstrated a level of capabilities and having able to competently helm a crew. The training of helms is the responsibility of the respective affiliates.

All candidates applying for the SDBA Helm Accreditation must:
  • Required to submit a valid Standard First Aid Certificate (which includes CPR and AED component) upon successful completion of the Accreditation scheme; and
  • Be able to swim a minimum 50m distance (in any swimming technique) in light clothing with and without a Personal Floatation Device (PFD).
THE SMALL CREW HELM ACCREDITATION :

During COVID19 Reopening Phase period, the size of dragon boat crew was reduced hence to meet COVID19 control measures hence SDBA introduced the Small Crew Basic Helm (SCH) accreditation which permitted Helms to control the COVID19 period sized boats.

Post COVID19 period as designated by the Authorities, the SCH Helm will be required to convert their SCH to full accreditation Basic Helm License (BHL). Notices on the Small Helms conversion sessions will be sent out to members when these sessions are confirmed.
