Pilot trial: SDBA-Covid Helm Scheme

We are pleased to announce the pilot trial of the Basic Helm Accreditation, Small Crew Helm license (SCH) during this pandemic period. The pilot trial will be held as follows:

  • Weekday schedule – every Monday
  • 2 sessions
    • Session 1: 8 persons ; 0800hrs to 1330hrs
    • Session 2: 8 persons ; 1130hrs to 1700hrs

Successful candidates will be issued with a Small Crew Helm license (SCH) which shall be valid for the entire COVID19 (CV) control measure period. Once CV is lifted, SCH holders will be required to convert to the full Basic Helm license. This shall be done at no additional cost and comprises of an additional practical test only. The SCH holder will just need to provide , as proof of validity, the SCH certificate. Note that prevalent terms and conditions, i.e. availability of slots, etc., will apply.

The SCH Accreditation shall be done in the DB22 boat with 8 candidates + 1 tester only.

Our pilot trials to test the soundness and efficiency of conducting the Basic Helm Accreditation on weekdays and weeknights was successfully conducted on 1 and 5 Mar 2021 and as such, we will be adding on additional course dates. Interested teams or individuals are invited to sign-up for the following:-

BASIC HELM ACCREDITATION

Date: Monday 22nd Mar 2021 (Lastest Update)

Venue: Classroom & Pontoon, Kallang Water Sports Centre, 10 Stadium Lane, Singapore 397774

Venue: Water Course, Kallang Basin

Fee: $214 (w/GST)

Please note that slots will be filled on a first come first served basis i.e. once SDBA has received your completed form and informed you to make payment by a specific date, only when the payment is received by the deadline, will your slot be confirmed.

Only when the payment is received by the required deadline, will your slot be confirmed otherwise, it will be offered to the applicant that is next in line.

With this we will be concluding the trials for both the weekday and weeknight helms courses. Do keep a lookout for the announcement for the upcoming courses in to be conducted in April 2021. Do note that the slots for the weeknight sessions will be less than those for the weekday sessions in view of the constraints of conducting the practical on Saturday for the weeknight courses.
